HOW do you master your thoughts? What a loaded question and one that is not easy to do. In fact, mastering your thoughts is probably the hardest thing you will ever do in life.
How can we achieve it? Karim Hemmings shares what he has learned trying to master his own thoughts throughout the years.
Don’t give up. Practice mindfulness and be aware of your thoughts daily even if you don’t see results immediately or within your expected time-frame. It is not something that will occur overnight.
Keep it simple. People often over-complicate or set too many goals to focus on. You should focus on 2-3 goals at time.
Don’t simply write down your goals and think they will manifest. Write them down but then also think about them daily. Visualize what you want in your life, the person you want to be, and how you want your interactions to be. People who set goals are 95% more likely to achieve them.
Implement a visualization practice but start small. Visualizing is difficult at first so commit yourself to this in small periods of time a couple times a day and increase as you progress. Karim made the fatal mistake of doing too much too soon and this can stop you completely from this practice.
Learn how to concentrate. Concentrating is hard, that is why so many struggle at first with meditation. You are required to sit in silence without thinking or maybe focusing on a specific mantra. Meditation will exercise your mind’s ability to stay focused on one thought.
Inundate yourself with people, books, and podcasts that will remind you to pay attention to your thoughts. This constant reminder will help you reset when your thinking gets off track without being aware of it.
Get comfy with a cup of organic tea and tune in to hear how mastering his thoughts has impacted Karim’s relationship with his wife and children, his relationship with his parents and his career. I hope this motivates you to pay closer attention to your thoughts and watch how your life changes for the better!
