In this episode, we welcome the culinary architect and wellness advocate, Hilary Brent, the visionary founder of The Rooted Table.
Embarking on a transformative journey from the bustling hospitality scene in Vancouver to her calling in holistic nutrition, Hilary shares an evocative narrative of her pivot to culinary entrepreneurship—spurred by her mother’s battle with cancer and a burning desire to fuse her passion with purpose. She sheds light on the immense power of flexibility and openness to change, which have become cornerstones in her life.
The episode dives into the art of balancing work and life, particularly when running a personalized chef business geared toward individuals and families juggling dietary constraints with the cravings for soul-satisfying meals. Hilary’s testimony touches upon the misconceptions about the expense of healthy eating, debunking myths to reveal that nourishment need not come with a hefty price tag when home-cooked meals enter the equation.
A trove of wisdom for budding entrepreneurs and seasoned business owners alike, the episode traverses the finer points of creating a fulfilling company culture through hiring with intention, managing diverse teams, and celebrating both monumental triumphs and small victories with equal zest.
You can look forward to a profound exchange on the challenges and charms of entrepreneurial life—from respecting personal energy cycles and dismissing the allure of an unattainable perfection to setting boundaries and nurturing team dynamics that propel a business to new heights.
Be sure to tune into this must-listen episode if you are seeking rich insights on weaving wellness into the fabric of business leadership and personal contentment.
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Inspired by her passion for beautiful food, Hilary Brent launched The Rooted Table after graduating from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. What began as a side hustle quickly blossomed into a full scale chef business – she was busy as a bee providing custom meal prep, catering retreats and gatherings, creating graze tables, hosting pop-up dinners, working as a freelance recipe developer and food stylist for brands and teaching others how to cook through workshops, cooking classes and most recently, as an instructor for Pacific Rim College Online.
Knowing she couldn’t have the impact she desired on her own Hilary began to grow her team so they could work collectively to nourish as many people as possible in the most beautiful, meaningful way. Her work is inspired by pops of colour and the multitudinous stories behind different people and places in food.
