Is it hard to meet new people, maybe you feel shy to introduce yourself? Do you crave withdrawing from a social gathering? Does voicing your opinion with others make you cringe? Do you often need to have time alone to recharge? You may just be a fellow introvert!
I was and am still very much an introvert and somewhat sensitive. Being an introvert has it’s pros and cons, but the cons definitely have a toll. There are a lot of fears associated with being an introvert and they can affect your life greatly if you let them run your choices!
I used to avoid speaking to or even introducing myself to new people, often staying quiet off to the side just listening to the conversations. I would speak softly, I would avoid any confrontations as if they were the plague. And this ended with a lot of tears throughout elementary and high school.
People didn’t quite understand why I was the way I was. I would get comments like: just be yourself, try harder to talk to people, why can’t you have fun and socialize!? You’re so boring, you barely talk!
I definitely did not feel understood or accepted. This changed when I started working and was forced to help customers and I am so thankful for it. It challenged me to be extroverted when needed.
