A growth mindset is important for any and everyone. After hearing how it has benefited my guests Amanda and James’ relationship, I am now convinced that it is also so important in a relationship.
Amanda and James have built their relationship on a foundation of growth. They are committed to personal development individually but also as a couple.
This is probably a dream for any girl, am I right? Having a partner that wants to do the inner work to be a better person and partner!
At the beginning of their relationship, James took Amanda to a special place, a place where he hadn’t taken anyone before – where he goes to think and find clarity.
Amanda knew it was an important moment, but she wasn’t expecting what came next. James shared that it was important to him that they both be committed to a growth mindset in their relationship. He wanted to make sure that they were on the same page and had the same goals, otherwise, it would not serve either well to continue their relationship.
With growth comes a deepened connection with yourself and your partner – it is an amazing journey of self development, self reflection and discovery. But it is not always an easy journey!
Amanda, just like any of us, knew deep down this was exactly what she wanted and needed – but that little voice creeped in and tried to plant doubts in her mind. Was she a bit scared of making this commitment? Yes, of course, but she did not let it stop her from making the best decision she could ever make.
This is such a good reminder for us – do not let our fear stop us from jumping or taking a leap of faith.
Amanda and James are now reaping the benefits of a strong bond that will continue to deepen as they stay committed to a growth mindset. They, in fact, have this as the centre of their lives! As coaches, they learn and also teach others (together and individually) how they too can develop healthier mindsets and live happier lives.
