Are you a perfectionist? Then this episode is for you! Being a perfectionist myself, I know it has it’s pros and cons. But how do you avoid letting the cons hinder you in life and business?
It was so interesting to hear that perfectionists procrastinate, I never knew it was something related. I always work best in crunch time. Meaning that when the deadline is right around the corner and I need to ultra focus to get the task done in time, because I always meet my deadlines. But why do I do this? Why do I leave things to the last minute when I know I had more time to do it without feeling stressed or pressure?
Now, I know worrying about always making the right decision is definitely a perfectionist tendency. I only recently became aware that there are no true perfect ways to do anything. There’s no measuring stick or standard out there somewhere that says exactly how everything is supposed to be! It really comes down to what you feel is right for you at this time. Whether it is life decisions, business decisions – listen to your gut and make an “advantage vs. advantage” list – and choose the one with the most advantages!
The biggest struggle I experience is letting people help because I feel it won’t be done as fast or the way I want. I have always struggled with this but am holding myself accountable to letting go more often nowadays. Having only 2 hands, I can only do so much on my own.
I need to focus my energy and time on things that truly matter that requires my attention. All other tasks, I am learning to let go of. Even if it isn’t done exactly how I want, that is okay! Everyone has their own approach to it and just because it isn’t how I would have done it, it doesn’t mean it isn’t good!
If you want to learn how to navigate these and so much more, tune in to this episode to hear Sam Laura Brown break it down for us as to why we are perfectionists, but also how we can avoid letting it hinder us in life and business! So grab yourself a cup of organic tea and get comfy – maybe even with a notebook in case you want to take some notes and let’s dive on in!
