“Invest in your skin. It is going to represent you for a very long time – Linden Tyler”.
This is a quote that resonates with me. Who doesn’t want to have beautiful glowing skin – especially on one of the most important days of your life, your wedding? As this is my first post, I thought I would discuss a topic that is very important to me – skin care.
I have been on a mission most of my life trying to find a solution to my problematic skin. Most will, at some point in their lives, experience the dreaded blemish (or blemishes in my case), dry parched skin, uneven skin tone, and enlarged pores visible from Mars. These imperfections can have quite the effect on one’s morale and confidence. I remember on several occasions wanting to or even cancelling plans to stay home under a blanket hiding from the world until my face cleared up enough for a public appearance. I even worried about having to deal with this when my special day arrives! Who wants to have those feelings leading up to their wedding day when so many wonderful events are taking place, including being caught in the camera spotlight at every turn?
I tried everything – Clinique, Proactiv, natural products, Aspirin masks, clay masks, and so much more. I even became a VIB member of Sephora spending quite a pretty penny trying different products! Some worked temporarily, others made it worse. But nothing seemed to take care of the problem permanently. I was at the end of my rope with an event just around the corner and my skin at its all-time worst. This is when I was urged by a friend to finally suck it up and visit a dermatology office; MD Wellness Solutions in South Surrey. This thought never even entered my mind previously. I called and made an appointment ASAP with not much hope that things would change 2 days prior to my event.
Well well… what can I say? MD Wellness Solutions changed my skin life. COMPLETELY. I met first thing the next morning with Dr. Tkatch and Dal. I brought all my products; everything I used on my face in for her to review. Turns out what I had been using was not all that bad, but the % of the beneficial ingredients in the products were not high enough to make a real difference. What I now call “fluff products”. Dal took a few “before” pictures (needless to say I am horrified to post these, but know it’s important that you see the actual improvement) and then proceeded to give me my first HydraFacial. I am so in love and am addicted to this facial. It feels so good to have my dead skin sloughed off and my pores cleared out. If you haven’t had this treatment, do it! I was then recommended a skin care regime using Zo Skin Health products. The regime was simple and geared towards my immediate concerns; a gentle cleanser, an exfoliating polish and acne clearing Cebratrol pads.
I was advised and provided with a sheet that described in detail what I would experience and the stages my skin would go through before getting better. This really helped me stick to the products even after I didn’t see an immediate 180˚ change. My skin reacted very well, and quickly. I noticed a change in the texture of my skin and the all over tone within a week. My flare ups diminished greatly to being almost non-existent. As I became comfortable and dedicated to my skin care routine, I then ventured out a bit to add additional products. I added Skinceuticals vitamin C Serum 10 and a 0.5% retinol cream. I swear by the vitamin C serum; in fact, I can’t live without it! The retinol cream wasn’t my all-time favorite though… I wasn’t a fan of my skin peeling during the day. So I tried ZO Glycogent™ Exfoliation Accelerator which “provides gentle, yet effective exfoliation of dead skin cells helping to increase cell regeneration”.
I swear by this skin care regime. And I think the proof is in the pudding… or the pictures.
Now, I won’t lie, this is not cheap. But completely reasonable in price. I now refuse to base my decisions on cost but on the quality of the product or procedure. This is where the quote I mentioned above comes into play. You only get one skin. You are going to wear it for the rest of your life. Why not go through life feeling beautiful and being proud and confident in it? It is, therefore, crucial to invest in it by providing it with the right ingredients to keep it at its best!
Planning your wedding can sometimes be stressful, why add to it by dealing with those annoying breakouts, etc. Bite the bullet, and call MD Wellness Solutions to book a consultation and change your skin for the better! It’s worth every penny.
In my next post, I will describe my leap into Micro needling to get rid of those pesky scars and enlarged pores! Stay tuned…
