Bridal fashion week is that exciting time of year where designer’s showcase their new collections and we all just sit back, wait for our Instagram feeds to fill up with beautiful images and fall in love…
New York Bridal Fashion Week took place on April 22-24th, 2017, and I just couldn’t wait to share my favorite gowns with you.
New trends have emerged including minimal to dramatic touches of black, which is not a usual colour that comes to mind when we think bridal. Exquisite lace fabrics. Intricate beading details. In addition, veils have made their comeback, which I am over the moon about – especially because of a gorgeous one by Galia Lahav.
Overall, it was a stunning collection from all designers, however, Marchesa officially stole my heart. Now let’s get to it…
REEM ACRA
In this collection I feel we saw the most dramatic touches of black. I loved the inclusion of bows, and bead embellishments. Many reminded me the Audrey Hepburn era.

ROMONA KEVEZA
I really loved the modern yet feminine simplicity and beautiful textures of this collection. Beautiful elegant lines are featured in this gown that i chose to feature here.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA
This gown was definitely cool and modern – but still romantic with the intricate lace and oversized bow. This collection also included a beautiful jumpsuit-style piece.

MONIQUE LHUILLIER
This collection was full of ruffles and lace. The colour of this gown stood out from all others for me.

MARCHESA
By far, this collection was my favorite. I love the intricate details of lace and the subtle yet statement-style touches of black. The lace booties – i must say have me coming back for more. Incredibly romantic and feminine gowns but these 2 are my favorites.

INES DI SANTO
This collection brought drama and glamour to the runway. It includes many different styles and details. For me, it had the most variety of looks.

BERTA
Drama. Glamour. Sexy. This defined Berta’s collection. This collection is more-so for the bold bride who isn’t afraid to showcase her figure. It was made up of sheer fabrics, re-embroidered lace, and of course shimmer. Definitely a statement collection.

GALIA LAHAV
This collection was more Victorian-inspired than i expected. But it still reflected a modern twist. The lace details are exquisite. Perfect attention to detail was seen throughout the entire line.

VIKTOR & ROLF
This collection definitely had an edge with unique ruffle placements and cuts. This gown though, with the full skirt and simple fullness, takes my breath away.

ELIE SAAB
I found that this collection was made up of the softest colours. The dresses had an airy appeal looking as though no matter the size, it would feel as light as a feather. A classic line of elegance.

VERA WANG
Vera Wang stood out as completely unique for me. This gown was the most alluring for me being more of a traditionalist at heart. I love the full sleeve and unique cut and detailed bodice.

There are many more images of the gowns included in each collection. The included pictures are a reflection of my personal taste, so I encourage you to browse the images that will be pouring in shortly. Many find that they end up selecting a gown completely different than they had in mind – so be brave, give a new trend a try – you may end up falling in love with it!
